What is HPPG?

  • HPPG is OPEN to ANY and ALL Hudson Prairie school parents, guardians, staff members, and concerned citizens residing in the Hudson Prairie school district.
  • Anyone in attendance at a scheduled meeting is considered a voting member.  

    Our Mission
    The Hudson Prairie Parent Group provides meaningful contributions toward the development of the children of the school. We promote progressive actions for continuous improvements at the school that support the whole child.

The Purpose of HPPG

  • Provide an organized channel to disseminate information about Hudson Prairie Elementary School.
  • Foster the concept of parent involvement and maintain and improve quality education by providing:
    • an arena for discussion of issues important to staff and parents.
    • a forum for parents to network with other parents.
    • parent education and volunteer opportunities.
  • Encourage Hudson Prairie parents to involve themselves in HPPG and other organizations that promote educational opportunities for students.
  • Engage in fundraising that is dedicated to offering the school and students educational and social opportunities that may otherwise not be available.

Meetings

  • Regular meetings are held each month of the school year. Typically the meetings are on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • The members in attendance constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.There are periodic guest speakers.


  • A newsletter advises parents and members of upcoming agenda and voting issues.


  • Meeting minutes are generated.  A summary of the minutes is published.
  • Childcare is Provided free of charge

Financial Policies
  • The Treasurer(s) maintain and present a financial report to the members at each monthly meeting.


  • The Budget Committee develops an annual budget to be presented for approval first to the Executive Board, then to the members at a monthly meeting. This budget reflects the program options planned and the financial obligations of the HPPG.


  • The Budget may be amended by a specific request. After a favorable vote by the Executive, it is brought before the members at a monthly meeting.

Fundraising
  • Fundraising is an important function of the HPPG. Here are some examples of HPPG Fundraising:


  • Book Fair
  • Annual Large Fundraiser (i.e. cookie dough)
  • Wendy’s Night
  • Shop-for-school (www.shopforschool.com)
  • Campbell’s Labels
  • Box tops for education

Fundraising Uses
  • The fundraising sponsored by the HPPG and generated by all involved provide the school and students with educational and social opportunities that may otherwise not be available Examples of this are:
  • Playground equipment (ex. climbing wall, swings, monkey bars)
  • 5th Grade Environmental Education Trip
  • Field Trip assistance for all grades
  • Classroom books and materials
  • Teacher gifts
  • R.I.F. Free book distributions to all students
  • Video Camera for Kid’s News
